Last Thursday the Manukura juniors made yummy nutritious muesli bars which are great for pre and post sports. 1.5 cups of rolled oats, the main ingredient, have a whopping 22.8g of protein, the 1 cup of almonds add another 26g protein and the half cup of pumpkin seeds another 26g.
Students melted their coconut oil, peanut butter (more protein) and rice syrup in a pot, to which they added orange zest and vanilla. Then they mixed it with their pre-toasted oats and nuts/seeds, added raisins and cranberries and baked in the oven for 20 minutes. They turned out crunchy and delicious, and didn’t last long! It was great seeing everyone use the electronic scales confidently and accurately. Ka pai everybody!
