We split our year 9 food technology class into 2 cooking teams. The task was to follow the recipe for carrot & kumara soup, and to support each other to work efficiently as a team.
Both teams were busy peeling vegetables and weighing out the ingredients, making sure they followed the instructions in the recipe correctly. It was a great numeracy and literacy challenge, with time pressure, which made it a very focused cooking session.
While the 2 teams were busy cooking, Gus was learning how to make wholegrain bread, and others were supporting in the shop area. Another three students went to the farm and helped to put up the new 30m hothouse – to enable us to plant more lettuces, herbs and other yummy greens during the winter months.
What a productive 2 hours!
