What is a healthy morning tea?

In our 2nd session with Tu Toa students, we discussed the three nutritional principles: simple, wholesome, and refined-sugar free, with an emphasis on what does “simple” mean in this context.
The students shared their ideas and together we agreed that simple doesn’t always mean quick (e.g. “fast food”), but natural and minimally processed. We came to the conclusion that if grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables are prepared in a simple and natural way, they will give the most energising nourishment.
So, following this thought, we took up the challenge of creating a natural granola bar for morning tea. We used organic oats, organic sunflower seeds, almonds and coconut. We added dates and cranberries as the only sweeteners. We also added some peanut butter and coconut oil to create a delicious muesli bar mixture. We finished by drizzling our granola bars with organic carob chocolate. We all enjoyed this simple and filling bar today, and took some more for our friends back at school too. 😊
